Deep Root specialised in Sound System style tunes and was born in 1998.
Deep Root had only 7" and 10" vinyl releases and has been instrumental in developing artists such as Abassi All Stars, Vibronics and Jah Free in the UK as well as Sis Sanae, Fitta Warri, Slimmah Sound and Dub Terror on the International scene who have appeared alongside such luminaries as Luciano, Earl 16, Rasheda, Kenny Knots, Beenie Man and Tippa Irie on Deep Root releases.
2005 saw the first Deep Root 10" vinyl releases.
2006 saw the addition of Daddy Roots, Omar Perry and Lua to the Deep Root stable and 2007 saw releases from Zion Train and Slimmah Sound.
2008 revealed more up and coming artists such as Prince David and Minno alongside Jamaican stars such as Carlton Livingston.
2009 saw a series of strictly dub Abassi meets EPs featuring studio collaborations with dub producers from around the globe such as Dubmatix, Ital Noiz, Insintesi and Professor Skank.
We reached a hiatus in 2015 after releasing Zion Train music featuring the Jamaicans Jah9, Addis Pablo and Micha Shemaiah after which we reverted to all releases being on our Universal Egg imprint.
All releases were strictly limited release and are for the most part produced in Zion Train studio, Cologne.
