Love Grocer is a musical collaboration centred around the songwriting duo of Chris Petter (trombone, keyboards & bass) and David Fullwood (trumpet & guitar) who, as the main players in the Crispy Horns brass section, have featured on a myriad of releases, working both live and in the studio with countless artists and producers over the past eight years. Recent credits include Mad Professor, Morcheeba, Steel Pulse, The Bluetones, Horace Andy, Zion Train and Dreadzone. Their involvement with the new roots/dub scene stretches back to the early 90s with Chris being a founder member of the legendary Conscious Sounds stable playing with Centry and The Dub Specialists and Dave cutting his teeth with Zion Train and Tassilli Players.
Seasoned reggae players Richard Doswell (alto sax & flute) and Jon Petter (tenor sax) complete the brass quartet with production and mixing duties shared by Dougie Wardop and Chasbo of Conscious Sounds Studio. On stage Chasbo also runs the control tower, while the music is licked and punched by MC Spee, heavyweight vocal trickster rocking the dance all over the place from Terminalhead to Dreadzone.
Love Grocer had their first Universal Egg release in November 2005 with the 'Surviving' 10", featuring Earl 16 on vocals and additional production by Steve Vibronics and neil perch.
Their first album is entitled 'Rocking with the Love Grocer' and the second 'Fresh Produce' both are available on the Dubhead imprint or through the wobblyweb online shop.
Featuring a new live drummer and Earl 16 on vocals (amongst others), their third album, 'Across The Valley' was released by Universal Egg in May 2006.
A remix 10" of cuts from this third album produced by neil perch is due to be released in 2008 on Universal Egg.
